Donald Trump’s planned use of a private security detail in addition to the U.S. Secret Service is a throwback to the 1930s and to Adolf Hitler’s Schutzstaffel, or “Protection Squadron.”
Nobel prize winning economist Paul Krugman sounded the alarm about Trump’s bully squad in a new opinion column:
“Many people are reacting to the rise of Trumpism and nativist movements in Europe by reading history — specifically, the history of the 1930s. And they are right to do so. It takes willful blindness not to see the parallels between the rise of fascism and our current political nightmare.”
Krugman also tweeted: “What’s about to happen here is populist style, with a heavy racist component, wedded to oligarch-friendly, middle-class-destroying policy.”
He’s not the only one who feels this way:
If we're in a place where a president has private police forces and doesn't take intelligence, we're all in body bags soon.

So, who were Hitler’s Schutzstaffel? They were a protection squad made up of NSDAP volunteers. Fast forward to 2016, Trump’s “battalion of retired cops and FBI agents” are akin to Hitler’s security detail, charged with protecting him and clamping down on protesters.
Politico reports that Mr. Trump “has opted to maintain an aggressive and unprecedented private security force, led by Keith Schiller, a retired New York City cop and Navy veteran who started working for Trump in 1999 as a part-time bodyguard, eventually rising to become his head of security.”
We need to stay WOKE people because Donald Trump’s actions prove that he’s an authoritarian, who wants to control how we voice dissent and stand up to him by any means necessary. We already see Trump going after the media for publishing articles critical of him, such as Vanity Fair’s negative review of Trump Grill.
