Donald Trump is upset that the media and a majority of Americans are mocking him. That’s according to his incoming press secretary, Sean Spicer, who complained that his boss isn’t getting the respect he deserves from the press.
During an interview with The Hill, Spicer said, “There’s some positive aspects here and there, but largely it still continues to not treat him with the respect that he deserves. I think for a lot of folks inside the beltway, and inside pundit-world, they don’t fully appreciate the understanding that he has of where the American people are. They continue to mock him in ways, when it frankly just shows the lack of understanding of that they have of where the American people are and what they think.”
I don’t believe Trump is being mocked by the media, but they are starting to call him out for his lies with more frequency. The man is vain, petty, thin-skinned and a complete ignoramus, who tweets one lie after the next. He mocks and verbally assails his critics, while expecting everyone to bow to him in deference. It doesn’t work that way.
I would also add that Spicer shouldn’t confuse mockery with respect. I respect the office of the president, but I don’t respect this loudmouth bully that is about assume the position. Why? Respect is earned. Not given. And it is a two-way street. Nobody is going to respect someone who was caught bragging about grabbing women by genitals, mocking a disabled reporter or when he mocked Hillary Clinton’s near-fainting incident, for example.
