Cedric Anderson Kills Wife, 8-Year-Old Special Needs Student, in San Bernardino Classroom

Cedric Anderson fatally shoots his wife, Karen Elaine Smith, and an eight-year-old special needs student, Jonathan Martinez, in their classroom at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino, before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder suicide.

Another child, whose identity has not been released, was wounded in the shooting and is listed in stable condition in a local hospital.

Anderson walked into the special needs classroom and opened fire at 10:25 a.m. on Monday. He reportedly emptied the clip and reloaded once before committing suicide. There were 15 students and two teaching aides in the classroom when Anderson entered.

Police say Anderson and Smith were estranged after marrying a few months ago. He gained entry into the school after signing in at the front office and saying he was dropping off something for his wife.

Anderson has a criminal record, which includes charges for domestic violence, weapons and drug-related offices, the police said.
