Two people were arrested after the body of missing Alpharetta teen Elijah Smith was found in Middle Georgia, police said on Saturday.
Alpharetta police said in a statement, “We regret to inform you that a body found in Twiggs County is that of our missing juvenile Elijah Smith.”
Hali Karlan, 20, of Roswell, and Deri Bonaventura-Flores, 19, of Norcross, were charged with murder, police said.
Police said Karlan and Bonaventura-Flores met Smith at the Extended Stay Hotel in Alpharetta on Tuesday and left in a vehicle late at night.
“Shortly after leaving, Smith was shot and killed inside the vehicle at an address on Old Milton Parkway near the hotel,” police said. A motive for Smith’s murder has not been disclosed by the police.
