Donald Trump told Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto that he won New Hampshire in the 2016 presidential election because “New Hampshire is a drug-infested den,” according to transcripts of a Jan. 2017 call obtained by the Washington Post.

Um, Donald Trump didn’t win New Hampshire. Hillary Clinton won by 2,736 votes. But of course, truth is a dirty word to Trump.

Trump to Pena Nieto: “We have a massive drug problem where kids are becoming addicted to drugs because the drugs are being sold for less money than candy,” Trump said. “I won New Hampshire because New Hampshire is a drug-infested den.”

He described Mexican drug cartel leaders as “pretty tough hombres” and promised U.S. military support, saying that “maybe your military is afraid of them, but our military is not.”

Can you imagine if Barack Obama had dissed a state during a telephone call with a foreign leader? Our heads would still be spinning from the right wing freakout.

Trump also urged Pena Nieto to publicly lie to help him out. He urged him to stop publicly saying his government will not pay for the US-Mexico border wall.

New Hamsphire is trending on Twitter. Lawmakers have issued statements:

Gov. Chris Sununu (R) responded: “The president is wrong. It’s disappointing his mischaracterization of this epidemic ignores the great things this state has to offer.”
