Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) claps back at Donald Trump taking a victory lap for his summit with murderous dictator Kim Jong Un: “North Korea still has all its nuclear missiles, and we only got a vague promise of future denuclearization from a regime that can’t be trusted.”

Trump tweeted:  “Just landed — a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office. There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea. Meeting with Kim Jong Un was an interesting and very positive experience. North Korea has great potential for the future.”

Schiff clapped back hard:  “One trip and it’s “mission accomplished,” Mr. President? North Korea still has all its nuclear missiles, and we only got a vague promise of future denuclearization from a regime that can’t be trusted.”

You will recall that Donald Trump poked the bear and fanned the flames by picking a fight with Kim Jong Un, calling him “Rocket Man” and threatening to use nuclear weapons against North Korea. He defused the hot mess he started.

Trump also gave up more than he got from Kim. That includes suspending the war games with South Korea that have acted as a deterrent against aggressors like China and North Korea. The Chinese were gloating over this concession because it means they are in an even more dominant position in the region. Our readiness in the region will decline. It’s a very specious argument on his part that the war games are too expensive.

Trump also blew up the TPP, which also gave China prominence. So, everything he has done thus far in the name of diplomacy benefits Russia and China.
