Vanessa Long Calls Off Divorce to Bishop Eddie L. Long, Drama Continues

Vanessa Long calls off divorce to Bishop Eddie L. Long. The petition has been dismissed. Um, I guess he was miraculously cured of his alleged homosexuality, like Ted Haggard. The drama continues.

The online postings in the case of “Long vs. Long” dated Monday indicate the petition was dismissed “without prejudice.”

One of Bishop Eddie Long’s lawyers, Lawrence Cooper, confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that  Vanessa Long had asked that the divorce petition be dismissed. He declined to say if the Longs were reunited. Source

I don’t think too many people care about the drama coming from New Birth. They have lost all respect for Bishop Eddie L. Long and his band of merry men and women following him blindly.

Bishop Eddie L. Long “Crowned King” During Another New Birth Minstrel Show

Bishop Eddie L. Long was recently “crowned king” during a minstrel show at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Can it get any worse than this? Vanessa Long did the right thing by jumping ship.

New Birth Christian Academy Closing Its Doors, Won’t Reopen After Christmas Holidays

More New Birth drama: New Birth Christian Academy closing its doors, won’t reopen after Christmas holidays after years of struggling financially.

Just when you thought Bishop Eddie L. Long was becoming a memory, New Birth Christian Academy is closing its doors, the AJC reports.

The school, which enrolls students in kindergarten through the 12th grade, has been struggling financially for years, officials said.

The academy is affiliated with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia and the embattled Bishop Eddie Long, but school officials told Channel 2 that the decision to close is not related to the sexual coercion allegations against him. The school will not reopen after the holidays, the report said. Source: AJC

They were quick to say that the temporary closure isn’t as a result of the sexual coercion lawsuit brought by four young men — Spencer LeGrande, Jamal Parris, Anthony Flagg and Maurice Robinson, but because of declining enrollment and financial difficulties.

This is the beginning of the end of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in its current state. This is another setback for Bishop Eddie Long, on the heels of Vanessa Long filing for divorce and Long taking a sabbatical to attend to family matters. The sudden school closure shows how little regard Bishop Eddie Long and his team have for the students. The parents are now scrambling to find schools for their kids. What difference would a few more months make for them to remain open until the end of the school year in May? Sex, lies and greed.

UPDATE: Our friends over at A Toast for Wealth also added this information to their post on the school closure:

Here’s is an overview of what parents were paying for their children to attend NB Christian Academy:

Annual Registration Fees- $300 plus testing fees (All fees were, of course, Non-refundable & Non-Transferable)

Annual Matriculation Fee- from $800 to $1000

Pre-K 3 – 4th Grade- Tuition (Non-New Birth Members) was $6198 and $5678 for additional child

5th Grade – 12th Grade- Tuition for (New Birth Members) was $5725 and $5253 for additional child and reaching up to over $6500 for grades 12th. Source from NB website.

Seems like New Birth Christian Academy was charging an arm and a leg, literally. There are Christian schools in metro Atlanta whose tuition is higher, such as Mt. Pisgah Christian School in North Fulton County, but they have a record of achievement, quite unlike what New Birth Christian school has to offer.
