Arthur Douglas Harmon ID’d as Suspect in Phoenix Office Building Shooting

Arthur Douglas Harmon, 70, has been identified as the suspect in the Phoenix office building shooting Wednesday. Police have entered a house owned by Harmon in the 14600 block of North 28th Street in Phoenix and came out a few minutes later without incident or a suspect.

Three people were shot, one died. Mark Hummels, a partner with Osborn Maledon and president of the Phoenix chapter of the Federal Bar Association, is among the wounded, said Larry Hammond, a partner with the firm, AZ Central reports.

This latest shooting comes days after Stanwood Fred Elkus shot Dr. Ronald Gilbert at Orange Coast Urology in Newport Beach, CA.

Stanwood Fred Elkus ID’d as Suspect in Murder of Dr. Ronald Gilbert at Orange Coast Urology

BREAKING NEWS: Doctor fatally shot near Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif., Monday afternoon. The doctor, who has not been identified, was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested a suspect without incident. ABC Local 7 reports the suspect had been inside the office with the victim. The suspect was a patient of the doctor, who is reportedly a urologist, NBC LA reports.

Multiple people have identified the victim as Dr. Ronald Gilbert, who works at Orange Coast Urology, but police have not released the victim’s name. A phone message at the urology office said the office had to close Monday due to an emergency.

Newport Beach Police Department Deputy Chief David McGill confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the slain man was a doctor but had no other details about him or the alleged gunman, who was taken into custody without incident at the scene, on the second floor of an office building at 520 Superior Ave. Source

Authorities said that six or seven shots were fired around 2:45 p.m. at 520 Superior Ave. in Newport Beach, where Gilbert’s office is listed.

When officers arrived about 2:50 p.m., they found a man shot in the chest in an examination room, said Kathy Lowe, a spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department. No one else was injured or targeted, Lowe told several media outlets.

A man was arrested on suspicion of homicide at the scene without incident, officials said.
