CNN’s newest political commentator Tara Setmayer is being blasted by black Twitter over her views on the police brutality protests. She accused Al Sharpton and other civil rights activists of ginning up outrage over the protests stemming from the police-involved shooting deaths of black males.

Setmayer, who works for Glenn Beck’s The Blaze, claims the shooting death of these males — Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice — are outliers. Um, tell that to the family of ex-FAMU football player Jonathan Ferrell.

Tata Setmayer says black urban radio is encouraging glorification of gangster culture. She specifically singled out BET.

Here’s the reaction on Twitter:

SANFORD SHOOTING:  ABC11 is reporting that 23-year-old Travis Faison identified by his family as the man fatally shot in a police officer-involved shooting in the 600 block of Magnolia Street in Sanford.

Neighbors said they heard a single gunshot just after 1:40 p.m. at Faison’s home. They said the Sanford officer was serving a warrant before the gunfire.

Police swarmed the area, but said nothing to clarify what happened. Was Faison armed or unarmed? Was there a struggle?

They are unanswered questions that aren’t sitting well in the community where many were already distrustful of police.

“It’s pretty much a black area and they just look down on this area because they think it’s a drug-infested area,” said Sedric Womack, Faison’s cousin. Source: ABC 11

White Phoenix Cop Guns Down Unarmed Black Man Rumain Brisbon

An unarmed black male, Rumain Brisbon, 34, was fatally shot by a white Phoenix police officer Tuesday evening. This time, the officer mistook a bottle of prescription painkillers for a gun.

Brandon Dickerson told FOX-10 that he was with Brisbon when the unnamed officer approached him and did not hear the officer give any commands. The police say Rumain Brisbon ran when he was approached.

The Phoenix PD says a brief struggle ensued between the officer and Brisbon. The officer mistook a bottle of prescription painkillers in his pocket, which the officer mistook for a gun.

Phoenix Police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said the officer who killed Rumain Brisbon “was doing what we expect him to do, which is fight crime.”

Rumain Brisbon’s family is represented by attorney Marci Kratter, who told azcentral.com that the police officer’s story seems to be incomplete. Her office has launched a separate investigation into Rumain Brisbon’s death.
