Ladarius Williams ID’d as Black Male in Early 20s Killed in Police-Involved Shooting in St. Louis

A black male in his early 20s was fatally shot in a police-involved shooting in St. Louis, Mo., on Tuesday. The suspect has been identified on Twitter as Ladarius Williams. He was shot three times by a police officer in the 4100 block of Minnesota Avenue in the Dutchtown neighorhood.

Here’s more from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

Chief Sam Dotson said the man, whose name was not available, was shot by one of two officers who were on regular patrol in the neighborhood.

Dotson said when the officers saw the man, “an individual they know from the neighborhood,” he grabbed at his waistband then took off running down a gangway. The two officers chased him and found him behind a building, hiding behind a bush, Dotson said.

The officers saw the man had a gun and a struggle ensued, Dotson said. The gun started to turn toward the officer at one point. The man was shot by one of the officers. The officer fired four times, but Dotson did not say how many times the man was hit.

“If I wanted to describe a struggle for your life, one of the officers today is covered in mud, literally head to toe, where they were rolling on the ground in the mud while trying to gain to control of his gun,” Dotson said.

Ladarius Williams was a convicted felon, therefore, he should not have been in possession of a firearm. There are also reports that Williams was shot by another officer in 2009. He reportedly pointed his gun at two officers. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison on that charge, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL: A fight broke out at a prayer walk at the scene of a deadly shooting at a home in Omaha, Neb. About 200 people gathered at the scene where Latecia Fox, Jakela Foster and Cameron Harris were killed in a gang shoot-out, at a house party.

Rival gang members started screaming at one another, literally “drowning out the messages of love and peace,” KETV reports.

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer made a plea for help Saturday.

“The violence that we are seeing here is the product of gang members with no regard for human life,” Schmaderer said. “Now that you are away from that scene and have an opportunity to be away from any intimidation, I am asking you for the sake of the community to contact law enforcement.”

Following tearful prayers, the Omaha community echoed his message.

“In the name of your friends, you have not went and talked to homicide detectives and said, ‘I was there, this is what happened and this is what I did,'” Barbara Robinson of Impact One said. “All those pieces together can solve something. That is, if we want to get and know who killed our loved ones.” Source: KETV
