Fourth Man Accuses Elmo Puppeteer Kevin Clash of Inappropriate Relationship When he was Underage

Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash has been accused of an inappropriate relationship by a fourth man. That’s after Sheldon Stephens, Cecil Singleton and John Doe came forward. The unidentified man claims Kevin Clash flew him from Miami to New York where they had sexual contact in his apartment. He claims he met Clash when he was 15 or 16 on the street in Miami Beach in late 1995 or 1996.

The boy, who was thinking about running away from home anyway, agreed, and Clash sent him a plane ticket and arranged for a car to pick him up at the airport.

But in Clash’s apartment, the man, now 33, said he was victimized by the older man, who allegedly had sexual contact with him numerous times.

‘Once he got to New York, it was all about the sex,’ the victim’s Florida-based attorney, Jeff Herman, told MailOnline.

This is starting to sound a lot like the Eddie L. Long scandal that rocked New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Former Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash’s first accuser, Sheldon Stephens, is speaking out and says he was treated unfairly by the media.

“I would like to say my name has been unfairly dragged through the media and it made me look like a monster. The whole world reacted in such a negative way and they haven’t really gotten a chance to know who I am and to even ask the right questions to figure out what kind of person I am. Rather, they reacted off of hearsay and rumors and speculation of the whole situation. The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a liar, extortionist.”

BREAKING: Long time Elmo puppeteer, Kevin Clash, resigns from “Sesame Street” after a second accuser has come forward. This also comes as Sheldon Stephens, the young man he reportedly had a sexual relationship with, now says he wants to undo his recantation of their encounter occurring when he was underage. Kevin Clash had paid him $125,000 to settle the matter and to say the encounter occurred when he was an adult.

TMZ reports, Cecil Singleton, who is now in his 30s, claims he and Kevin Clash had a sexual relationship when he was 15-years-old. In his lawsuit he alleges “[Kevin] Clash trolled gay telephone chat line rooms to meet and have sex with underage boys… preying on teenage boys to satisfy his depraved sexual interests.” According to the AP, Clash has now resigned from Sesame Street, calling the recent allegations “a distraction.”

Here’s more information on the second lawsuit from Gothamist:

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in New York City, claims Clash “groomed [the accuser] to gain his trust by, among other things, taking him to nice dinners and giving him money.” Singleton claims he waited until now because he “did not become aware that he had suffered adverse psychological and emotional effects from Kevin Clash’s sexual acts and conduct until 2012.” He’s asking for over $5 million.

Wow, this is troubling, very troubling. How many more young boys did he allegedly target? I cannot look at Elmo the same way again. It is ironic that this lawsuit was filed on November 20, 2012, nine years to the date when Michael Jackson was booked on suspicion of multiple counts of child molestation. He was freed on $3 million bond and was later acquitted of all the charges.

Oh no, say it ain’t so — Kevin Clash, the man who voices Sesame Street’s Elmo, has taken a leave of absence amid allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy.  Sesame Street’s lawyers were contacted by a 23 year old man who claims he had a sexual relationship with Kevin Clash seven years ago, when he was 16.

According to TMZ, Kevin Clash admitted he had a relationship with the man, but only after the accuser was an adult and said the accusations were both false and defamatory.

UPDATE#1:  From Huffington Post — The man who accused the voice of Sesame Street’s beloved Elmo of having a sexual relationship with him when he was 16 has recanted his story.  The New York Times reports that the law firm representing the accuser, who has not been named, released a statement saying the man “wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with [Kevin Clash] was an adult consensual relationship.”
