It seems that the slate of potential Republican presidential candidates will do and say anything to appeal to the fringe element in the party.

Fox News personality and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who appeared at a New Hampshire event(#NHFreedomSummit), is quoted as saying: “I am beginning to think there’s more freedom in North Korea sometimes than there is in the United States,” citing TSA patdowns. Um, really?

Since he knows so much about North Korea, he should move there. The fact is, Mike Huckabee owes every American an apology for such inflammatory rhetoric.

Twitter exploded over Mike Huckabee’s North Korea comment:

I am convinced that some Republicans just can’t help themselves when it comes to women-bashing and to their detriment. Former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is quoted by Kathie Obradovich, a political columnist at The Des Moines Register saying that “men like to hunt and fish together, women like to use the bathroom together.” Huckabee reportedly made the comments at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition fundraiser in Waukee.

He claimed he’s “not homophobic but one-man/one-woman marriage is being “on the right side of the Bible.”

Gov. Jan Brewer’s Anti-Gay Bill Veto Sends Strong Message to GOP Religious Extremists

AZ Gov. Jan Brewer’s Anti-Gay Bill Veto Sends Strong Message to GOP Religious Extremists

Could Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s veto of the controversial anti-gay “Religious Freedom” bill, known as SB 1062, signify a turning point in the right wing evangelicals lunatics holding the Republican Party hostage? The religious liberty scams being pulled by people like Mike Huckabee and Rep. Michele Bachmann, is literally creating a huge problem for the Republican Party. The GOP is literally at war with itself. Well, the tide may be turning with Gov. Brewer’s veto.

Any political advantage the Republican Party hoped to gain by positioning itself as tireless warriors for the religiously devout is imploding. The efforts to apply the same religious freedom argument to anti-gay measures in states such as Arizona, Georgia and Mississippi, are being met with strong resistance. This is eerily reminiscent of the Civil Rights era, when blacks and many whites fought for racial justice and equality. Yes, against some religious scam artists. The fact is, SB 1062, and other similar bills, not only gained resistance from liberals, but from business leaders, Republican celebrities and GOP political officials. We are all collectively giving the religious right extremists a dose of their own medicine — the middle finger.

Republican Gov. Jan Brewer decided to buck the trend, despite the rallying cries from conservative windbag Rush Limbaugh, Rep. Michele Bachmann and many others, who felt that discriminating against the gay community was the right thing to do, for their own self-righteous sake. Gov. Brewer decided with whom she would stand and vetoed Arizona’s right-to-discriminate bill. She is now one of powerful group of conservatives who understand that religious freedom can’t be used as a tool for exemption from every law or issue conservatives don’t like. The threat to religious freedom can’t be imagined. It has to be verifiable. Gov. Brewer effectively admitted as such during her speech.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper had proven during an interview with GOP state senator Al Melvin, a supporter of SB 1062, that the freak-out from the religious right over discrimination because of their religious beliefs was imagined and not factual.  Melvin could not provide one example of what needs to be protected.

The ‘Stand Your Religion‘ law is akin to the ‘Stand Your Ground‘ law that allows people in Florida and in other states where it’s a law, to shoot dead anyone who ‘threatens’ them. No matter if the threat is imagined. Michael Dunn shot an unarmed black teen, Jordan Davis, over an altercation about ‘loud music.’ He could have very easily moved his vehicle if the music was such a bother. No, the gun gave him a sense of invincibility. So, he decided to start an argument with the teen, ending in a fatality. Curtis Reeves fatally shot Chad Oulson in Florida, after the two argued about the latter texting at a movie theater. The threat to retired police officer Reeves was a bag of popcorn.

Brewer said, “Senate Bill 1062 does not address a specific and present concern related to religious liberty in Arizona.” “To the supporters of the legislation, I want you to know that I understand that long-held norms about marriage and family are being challenged as never before. Our society is undergoing many dramatic changes. However, I sincerely believe that Senate Bill 1062 has the potential to create more problems than it purports to solve. It could divide Arizona in ways we cannot even imagine and no one would ever want. Religious liberty is a core American and Arizona value, so is non-discrimination.” In other words, Gov. Brewer recognizes bullsh*t when she sees it. Namely SB 1062.

Brewer’s veto sends a strong message to the other states toying around with similar legislation. It’s not going to pass the smell test, much less be signed into law. There are far too many influential players on the sidelines in this dogfight. This uprising engineered by the right wing evangelicals is losing steam.

Of course, National Review editor Rich Lowry, is one of many Republicans who disagree with Brewer’s veto. He called it “foolish.”

A religious freedom statute doesn’t give anyone carte blanche to do whatever he wants in the name of religion. It simply allows him to make his case in court that a law or a lawsuit substantially burdens his religion and that there is no compelling governmental interest to justify the burden.

I have to ask Rich Lowry, should blacks have simply walked away from lunch counters where they weren’t welcomed to find other establishments? Or should they have found another means of getting to and from work after being told to sit at the back of the bus?  The fact is, Gov. Brewer just sent the message that those days are over when the right wing thought it could push its agenda while hiding behind the claim of religious freedom.

In closing, let me address the Stand Your Ground law because there are some shades of Jim Crow laws evident. Jordan Davis is our new Emmett Till. Florida Gov. Rick Scott should make the same argument about his state’s controversial ‘Stand Your Ground’ law. He said he would have vetoed the Arizona bill. How many more people, particularly young men, need to be killed in Florida before he takes a stand and ends this law?

Mike Huckabee: Democrats Think ‘Women Can’t Control Libido’ Without Help from ‘Uncle Sugar’

The Republican Party’s attack on women continue with former presidential candidate and Fox News host Mike Huckabee making a really offensive comment.  The former Arkansas governor says Democrats tell women “they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of government.”

Mike Huckabee also said, “Women I know are mart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything that anybody else can do.” “Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That’s not a war on them, that’s a war for them.”

The GOP clown car is taking passengers for the 2016 presidential election. Former Arkansas governor-turned-Fox-News-personality Mike Huckabee is considering another run for the White House. It will be a cold day in hell when he becomes our next president.

Said Huckabee: “Absolutely. Yeah, no hesitancy to say, for sure. Does that mean I will? I don’t know. Does that mean I won’t? I don’t know. But am I thinking about it? Am I talking to people about it? Yeah, that would be fair to say.”

Rush Limbaugh Faces New Threat When New Mike Huckabee Show Launches in His 12-3 PM Time Slot

Rush Limbaugh faces new threat — former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Why?  The new Mike Huckabee show launches on 100 stations in his noon-3 p.m. time slot. Um, give me Mike Huckabee any day over Rush Limbaugh.  Advertisers won’t be the only ones running from Rush Limbaugh, listeners will too.

David Frum points out that Limbaugh will face “a more-serious challenge” on April 2: “That’s when the new Mike Huckabee show launches on 100 stations in Limbaugh’s very own noon-to-3 time slot. Huckabee’s competition threatens Limbaugh not only because Huckabee has already proven himself an attractive and popular TV broadcaster, but also because Huckabee is arriving on the scene at a time when Limbaugh’s business model is crashing around him.”

Have you seen this man, Donald Hux? He is wanted in the murder of Mike Huckabee’s cousin, Sandy Carl Huckabee, who was found dead at his Arkadelphia home. Sandy Carl Huckabee is the first cousin of the former GOP presidential candidate and former Arkansas governor. Police believe Huckabee was killed by Donald Hux, the ex-husband of his wife, Amy Huckabee, who is missing. Police are investigating her disappearance as a kidnapping and a suspected love-triangle.

Hux and Amy Huckabee had three children from their previous marriage and Hux dropped all three off at his parents’ house in El Dorado, which is 80 miles away, on Sunday morning. Union County Sheriff’s Captain Clark Burton said the children were not hurt.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike Huckabee and his family in the death of Sandy Carl Huckabee. If you have any information, please contact the Arkadelphia police. Time is of the essence in finding Amy Huckabee. The more time that goes by, the more likely her body will be found. These children deserve to have their mother in their lives.

Sandy Carl Huckabee appears to have suffered a head trauma, but not much else is known about the crime scene. No weapons were found at the scene, and police have said that they consider Donald Hux to be armed and dangerous, the Daily Mail reports.

UPDATE#1: Donald Hux was killed in a shootout with police. Amy Huckabee was fatally shot by Hux. Now we have three people dead. Donald Hux reportedly harassed Amy Huckabee from prison.

Mike Huckabee compares Herman Cain sexual harassment allegations to ordering food at Popeyes. I bet Huckabee thought he was making a valid point? What a moron. First and foremost, as a former pastor, he should be the first to disavow such lewd behavior. Um, how could I forget. He’s from the Deep South, where many whites were lynching and terrorizing blacks after attending Sunday services. Only it wasn’t the “high-tech lynching” Cain & company are accusing their critics of engaging it. It was with rope, trees, bats, guns and flammable liquids.

John McCain Reportedly Pays More Than $5,000 to Tifanie White for Cosmetic Services

makeup John McCain Reportedly Pays More Than $5,000 to Tifanie White for Cosmetic Services This is totally ridiculous on so many levels. It seems that John McCain reportedly paid more than $5,500 to Tifanie White, the makeup artist who works on “American Idol,” for similar cosmetic services. Yeah, another “Hail Mary” pass. This is another incident of a politician spending big bucks for good looks, which are questionable in this case.

The hypocrisy in this is that earlier this cycle, former Sen. John Edwards was subjected to days of ridicule over the fact that he had made two separate payments of $400 for two haircuts. Yeah, another self-professed man of the people spending the equivalent of a few months rent and basic expenses, on personal grooming. Back then, several high-ranking and prominent conservatives were also leveling the mockery. Rush Limbaugh, the right wing nutcase, asked whether the North Carolinian would be our nation’s “first female President.” Mike Huckabee quipped that Democrats had the propensity to spend “more than John Edwards in a beauty shop.” Wow, these same people are silent now.

The Republican National Committee put together a document calling Edwards a “pricey haircut enthusiast” and declaring that “the former North Carolina senator’s populist drive has hit a series of troubling land mines” because of his two expenditures. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) went to New Hampshire and, in a dig at Edwards, got a $400 haircut of his own. The normal price was $17; the difference between the amounts was given to charity.

So now that McCain has spent 13 times as much on makeup as Edwards did on haircuts, but we won’t hear from these people. This comes on the heels of John McCain forgetting how many houses he and his wife has, as well as the fact that they have 13 cars, some foreign-made. This seems to be a big contradiction to me. There is a serious disconnect between the message that John McCain is touting and his actions. There’s nothing wrong with being rich, filthy rich, but don’t insult the intelligence of the middle class by acting as though you care. Please, the money he spent on cosmetic services were a waste. The man still looks terrible. To echo the words of Barack Obama and John McCain: “if you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.”
