Libertarian favorite Ron Paul doesn’t ‘fully endorse’ Mitt Romney for president. Um, trouble for Romney among Paul supporters? The Romney campaign gave Rep. Paul a chance to speak at the convention, but he turned it down due to the conditions of the offer, the New York Times reports:

Mr. Paul, in an interview, said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney. He declined.

“It wouldn’t be my speech,” Mr. Paul said. “That would undo everything I’ve done in the last 30 years. I don’t fully endorse him for president.”

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice endorsed Mitt Romney for president citing his leadership abilities. Rice, who has often been mentioned as a possible vice presidential pick for Romney because of her vast foreign policy experience, endorsed Romney as he appeared at a fundraiser in California last night, saying he understand the nation’s special place in the world. It would be interesting to now hear who Colin Powell will endorse. I believe he will also endorse Mitt Romney.

“If America is going to rebuild its strength at home, rebuild its sense of who we are, it needs a leader that also understands how really exceptional the United States of America is, and is not afraid to lead on the basis of that exceptionalism,” Rice told about 300 donors. “The only thing that people dislike more than unilateral American leadership is no American leadership at all.” Source

Condoleezza Rice would be a more credible vice presidential pick because should could also help him secure women’s votes and potentially draw black voters, who have largely been loyal to President Obama. While some blacks view her as a “sell-out” for working with George W. Bush, I think she brings a lot to the table and should be admired for what she has done for this country. I don’t think the black votes would flee from Obama on her behalf, but nonetheless, she would be a great vice presidential pick. She would be one reason I would give Mitt Romney a second look. She is far more credible than the current vice president Joe Biden.
