RNC Threatens to Pull Out of 2016 Presidential Debates Over Planned Hillary Clinton Documentaries

RNC HUBRIS:  Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus has written letters to CNN and NBC threatening to blackball them if they run Hillary Clinton films as planned. Um, since when does the media take its cue from the RNC?

Today Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus sent a letter to Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, and Jeff Zucker, President of CNN Worldwide, calling on their networks to cancel their attempts to influence Americans’ political decisions. Both networks are airing programs promoting former Secretary Hillary Clinton ahead of her likely candidacy for president in 2016. NBC has announced plans to air a miniseries, while CNN is producing a documentary. If the productions are not canceled prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting, Chairman Priebus will seek a binding vote of the RNC to prevent the committee from partnering with these networks in 2016 primary debates or sanctioning debates they sponsor.

“It’s appalling to know executives at major networks like NBC and CNN who have donated to Democrats and Hillary Clinton have taken it upon themselves to be Hillary Clinton’s campaign operatives,” said Chairman Priebus. “Their actions to promote Secretary Clinton are disturbing and disappointing. I hope Americans will question the credibility of these networks and that NBC and CNN will reconsider their partisan actions and cancel these political ads masked as unbiased entertainment. If they have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor.” Source:  RNC

I guess the Republicans are terrified of Hillary Clinton, as they should be. But would they really allow a Republican presidential candidate to miss a televised debate? I don’t think so. NBC and CNN should call their bluff and run their Hillary Clinton documentaries. Watch the usual chorus of Hillary haters like Matt Drudge and the Drudge Report, as well as Breitbart go nuts if Hillary Clinton runs. They will literally dig deep for any information that could possibly bring Hillary Clinton’s presidential aspirations to a screeching halt if she chooses to run.

CNN issued a statement:

“CNN Films, a division of CNN Worldwide, commissioned a documentary about Hillary Clinton earlier this year. It is expected to premiere in 2014 with a theatrical run prior to airing on CNN. This documentary will be a non-fiction look at the life of a former First Lady and Secretary of State. Instead of making premature decisions about a project that is in the very early stages of development and months from completion, we would encourage the members of the Republican National Committee to reserve judgment until they know more. Should they decide not to participate in debates on CNN, we would find it curious, as limiting their debate participation seems to be the ultimate disservice to voters.”

Texas Inmate Keith Judd, No. 11593-051, Gets 40% of Votes in WV Primary Against Obama

Texas Inmate Keith Judd, No. 11593-051, Gets 40% of Votes in WV Primary Against Obama

I guess President Obama is more unpopular than I thought since Keith Judd, 53, a Texas inmate serving 17 years for extortion, received 40% of the votes in West Virginia’s Democratic presidential primary. SMH is all I can do. Judd, inmate number 11593-051, was sentenced in 1999 for making threats against the University of New Mexico and is set to be released on June 24, 2013. Obama will still win the primary, but 40% were willing to vote for an unknown who happens to be an inmate. The Drudge Report is running with this story for obvious reasons — Obama is unpopular. I’m not surprised this hot mess unfolded in West Virginia. Why? President Obama has never been received in West Virginia. He lost the 2008 primary there to Hillary Clinton by 41 points, so nothing new here. I hear the guffaws loud and clear, but the votes don’t signal trouble for the president.

Judd was able to get on the state ballot by paying a $2,500 fee and filing a form known as a notarized certification of announcement, said Jake Glance, a spokesman for the Secretary of State’s office.

According to the Charleston Gazette, Judd circulated his political standpoints to local media. These include opposing national health care reform on the grounds that it violates the 10th Amendment. He also cites the U.S. Constitution, saying that incarcerated felons should not be disqualified from voting.

Judd is housed at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Texarkana, a low-security facility for male prisoners. It is located in northeast Texas near the Arkansas border, 175 miles east of Dallas. Attracting at least 15 per cent of the vote would normally qualify a candidate for a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. Source

President Obama isn’t the only unpopular politician in America. So is the entire U.S. Congress. Add the Supreme Court justices to the mix as well. It’s troubling that any fool can get on a ballot in this country. There are a lot of hill-billy jokes about West Virginia, all with good reason. If these wingnuts can vote for an inmate to slight the other opponent, then they are as dumb as people say West Virginians are.

Just as a note of interest, Keith Judd has run for president in every election since 1996. He finished third in the 2008 Idaho Democratic primary with 1.7 percent of the votes 9734 votes) and he lists his religion as Rastafarian-Christian, according to Politico

Here is a sampling the reaction to this hot mess on Twitter:

The Drudge Report Goes After First Lady Michelle Obama’s Outfit, Targets Her "Bondage Belt," Misses Point of Her Speech

belt The Drudge Report Goes After First Lady Michelle Obamas Outfit, Targets Her "Bondage Belt," Misses Point of Her Speech They are after First Lady Michelle Obama again over her clothes. This time, The Drudge Report is targeting her “bondage belt,” as they called it. Okay, not to knock her, but that is hideous. Michelle Obama has had some major fashion hits and a few misses. I would say that this is minor in the grand scheme of things. Considering how frumpy Barbara Bush and Hillary Clinton were, I think it’s safe to cut her some slack.

Lost in this hoopla over her belt is the fact that Mrs. Obama spoke on health care legislation at the White House complex September 18, 2009, in Washington, D.C. She amplified the President’s message on the need for health insurance reform and its impact on women and families during the event.

White House uses Web Against The Drudge Report Attack on Health Care Reform Misstatements

The White House is turning to the Internet to hit back at a Web posting on The Drudge Report that claims to show President Barack Obama explaining how his health care reform plans eventually would eliminate private insurance.

The three-minute White House video features Linda Douglass, a former network television correspondent and now White House Office of Health Reform communications director, sitting in front of a computer screen showing the Drudge Report Web site. The right wing site carries a series of video clips from another blogger who strings together selected Obama statements on health care to make it appear he wants to eliminate the private health insurance business. It is quite obvious, as Douglass states, that the site is “taking sentences and phrases out of context, and they’re cobbling them together to leave a very false impression.”

The right wing is deliberately twisting the truth in so many ways. According to White House Briefing Room blog, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them.  He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry. If you don’t agree with the proposal that’s one thing, but to deliberately misstate the statements of the president is another.

Poster of Barack Obama in Heath Ledger-Style Joker Make-Up with the Legend ‘Socialism’ Below it has been Popping up Around L.A.

JOKER Poster of Barack Obama in Heath Ledger Style Joker Make Up with the Legend Socialism Below it has been Popping up Around L.A.

Have you seen this poster? Well, the right wing is circulating this. I found this on News Busters and The Drudge Report. The picture, with President Barack Obama in Heath Ledger-style Joker make-up, has reportedly starting to appear in weird places in Los Angeles and, of course, the person(s) putting them up don’t have the guts to show their face(s) in public. According to News Busters, this picture also appeared in an April 25th article in Bedlam Magazine.

President Barack Obama, President Nicolas Sarkozy Take in the View of Mayara Tavares, as they Pose with Junior G8 Delegates

Van Susteren Debunks Obama G8 Photo Smear

obamalooks President Barack Obama, President Nicolas Sarkozy Take in the View of Mayara Tavares, as they Pose with Junior G8 Delegates
This is a very interesting picture of President Barack Obama taking in the view. This picture has been prominently placed on The Drudge Report and Reuters for obvious reasons. The teenage girl has been identified as Rio de Janeiro resident Mayara Tavares. The girl from Ipanema had been selected to attend a meeting of young people held in conjunction with the summit. The picture was snapped as both presidents took their places with junior G8 delegates for a family photo at the G8 Summit in L’Aquila, Italy today. Leaders of the Group of Eight major industrial nations and the main developing economies are meeting in the central Italian city until Friday to discuss issues ranging from global economic stimulus to climate change and oil prices.

It is an awkward picture, but I honestly don’t think President Obama would stoop so low as to check out a teenage girl. He isn’t of the same ilk as President Bill Clinton. Share your thoughts on what this picture says to you.

Is Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post Calling President Obama a Monkey in its Latest Editorial Cartoon?

newyorkpostcartoon Is Rupert Murdochs New York Post Calling President Obama a Monkey in its Latest Editorial Cartoon?
So, after Rev. Al Sharpton made some off-the-cuff comments about Gen. Colin Powell at a recent speech at Middlebury College, he has rightly criticized the New York Post. He is demanding that the newspaper, which has come under fire in the past for racially-tinged cartoons, explain what it meant in its latest controversial offering. The cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it. The incorporation of violence and, on a sinister level, race into politics is bound to be controversial. Rightly so.

Displayed prominently on today’s editorial pages, the cartoon depicts two police officers – one with his smoking gun drawn – standing over what appears to be a dead chimpanzee in a pool of blood. One officer says to the other: “Now they’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.”

Hmmm. Are they referring to the dead chimp as the president of the United States? That’s weird and I have to wonder what the intent of the cartoon is. Okay, the massive $787 billion stimulus bill was signed into law yesterday and the cops shot a crazy chimpanzee, but what do they have in common? Could it be President Obama being portrayed as a rabid chimpanzee? We all know that blacks are portrayed as monkeys repeatedly, so that is a sound conclusion to draw. With that in mind, Mr. Rupert Murdoch and his posse owe us an explanation and an apology. Funny, Matt Drudge has been a big critic of Barack Obama and his Administration and this cartoon is conveniently absent from the Drudge Report. It is also missing from Fox News Channel’s website, but I expected nothing different.

John McCain Last Desperate Attempt to Smear Barack Obama Over Coal Plant Story Debunked

I have basically lost the little respect I had for John McCain. I always found him to be a Republican senator that I could tolerate, but he has proven me wrong in the campaign leading up the presidential election. He has played dirty and ran a shoddy campaign. I was not surprised to learn that the Fox News-Drudge Report-NewsBusters-McCain campaign tag team would not give up, have pushed a salacious story that the San Francisco Chronicle concealed information that Barack Obama had proposed to bankrupt the entire coal industry. This latest smear comes even when the polls are against McCain in daunting numbers.

According to the Jed Report, not only was that story false (more detail below), but it turns out that Barack Obama and John McCain have the same position on clean coal technology, and Ohio’s Republican senator said McCain’s plan to fight global warming would “put coal out of business. Further, the Jed Report states that:

The Chronicle had not concealed the recording, which had been on the newspaper’s website all along. And rather than reveal some sinister scheme, what it actually demonstrated was that Barack Obama supported clean coal technology — a position he shares with none other than John McCain.

Despite the fact that both candidates support clean coal technology, the McCain campaign tried to make the case that Barack Obama wanted to take away jobs from coal country in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and both Drudge and FOX were happy to oblige.

But just three years ago on the floor of the United States Senate, John McCain’s Republican colleague George Voinovich of Ohio took to the floor to argue against a proposal by McCain to curb greenhouse gas emissions. McCain’s proposal, Voinovich said, would “put coal out of business” and cost thousands of jobs, an argument that McCain did not contest.

In fact, McCain agreed that his plan would require sacrifice, but he also argued (correctly) that in the long-run, America would be better off. In other words, he made the exact same arguments as Barack Obama.

Well, Barack Obama said it, that the gloves will come off and they would smear him relentlessly. The American people have to realize at this point that John McCain and the Republican machine are staring a loss right in the face and they cannot accept it. Too bad, but thanks to President George W. Bush, VP Dick Cheney, Senator John McCain and all the politicians who voted with Bush, America is in a financial quagmire and when you mess with people’s livelihood and their money, you get surprising results.

Matt Drudge, Creator of The Drudge Report, Loses Grip on the U.S. Media

media Matt Drudge, Creator of The Drudge Report, Loses Grip on the U.S. Media I came across a very interesting commentary in the Financial Times newspaper. It seems that Matt Drudge has lost his edge. Everything negative that he has reported about Barack Obama has literally backfired. Doesn’t this remind you of the “Teflon President” Ronald Reagan? Well, the article states that it was a shocker in the tradition of Mr Drudge’s scare stories and hyped-up trivia about Democratic candidates in US presidential campaigns, to go with past items about John Edwards’ $400 haircut and John Kerry’s windsurfing. This time, however, it was not merely tendentious but false. I actually wrote about Matt Drudge featuring a picture of Barack Obama kissing a white woman in Ohio. It seems that Drudge was trying to start a fire, where there was none. Barack Obama’s mother is white. Since when kissing a white woman became a big deal. Was he trying to remind us of Jim Crow? That was a cheap shot.

Drudge has spent the past month blatantly cherry-picking poll results that favor John McCain, to the loud derision of Obama-supporting blogs, of which Black Political Thought is one. He deliberately shows poll results for one group of voters and not the others. Drudge has cried wolf so often in recent weeks and it is a real shame.
