Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall in Montego Bay has been sold to Playa Hotels and Resorts for more than $70 million. The 427-room resort, set on 5,000 acres of ocean-front property, has been on the sale block for the last nine years. The Ritz-Carlton company operated the resort for the last 12 years.
Under terms of the purchase agreement, US-based Playa will rename the resort. The plan is now to transform the resort, including building 100 new rooms, into a more upscale luxury facility than before.
