There are thousands of Georgians without insurance but the state insurance commissioner Ralph Hudgens, who is a Republican, wants to see Obamacare implode. Yep, he also made it his mission from Day 1 to obstruct the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Georgia. Forget the uninsured black and Hispanics here. There are thousands of poor whites living all across the state who have no health insurance. In fact, there are 1.7 million Georgians without health insurance and the state has one of the highest poverty rates in the U.S.
Hudgens told Channel 2’s Lori Geary, “I hope this whole thing implodes,” when he was questioned about the health care plan rollout. In the same breath, he urged Georgians who want to sign up for Obamacare to wait until at least December, when the issued may be cleared up. Hypocrite.
Hudgens also said “I think this is the climax of it, when the whole website crashes and not one person in the entire United States was able to sign up for Obamacare,” in response to issues with the site over the weekend.
What we have here is another old rich white conservative male trying to play judge and jury for everyone in Georgia. Gov. Nathan Deal made it perfectly clear that he and his lackeys have no empathy much less concern for the welfare of the poor in the state of Georgia. They consider health care a luxury, which should only be available to certain classes.
