The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” lit up the five-day Thanksgiving weekend box office with $110.2 million, followed by Disney Animation’s ‘Frozen’ in second place with $82.4 million. “Thor: The Dark World” took third place with $15.5 million, followed by “The Best Man Holiday” in falling to fourth place with $8.5 million, with a total haul of $63.4 million since its debut. Rounding out the top five is “Homefront” with $7 million.

Catching Fire became the top Thanksgiving title of all time, breezing past the $82.4 million grossed by “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” For the weekend itself, Catching Fire earned $74.5 and ‘Frozen‘ $67 million.

Disney’s ‘Frozen‘ eclipsed the $80.1 million five-day debut of Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 2‘ in 1999. It scored the top opening for a Disney Animation Studios film, beating ‘Tangled’ over Thanksgiving in 2010, which grossed $68.7 million.
