Oprah Winfrey Gives Ex-Stepmom 60-Day Reprieve in Eviction Battle

A Tennessee judge has granted Oprah Winfrey’s ex-stepmother, Barbara Winfrey, a 60-day reprieve before she must vacate a Williamson County mansion owned by the former talk-show diva.

The Tennessean reports Oprah Winfrey will follow the recommendation of General Sessions Court Judge Ernie Williams’ that Barbara Winfrey be given more time.

The court showdown came after Barbara Winfrey, who is divorced from Oprah’s father, Vernon, refused to move out of the $1.4 million home located in the Laurelbrooke subdivision. That’s despite Oprah Winfrey offering her another home “free and clear.” She claimed the deal included signing a confidentiality agreement about Oprah Winfrey.

Barbara Winfrey was thrown a lifeline by the judge because she had faced eviction within the next 10 days.
