Ebola-stricken surgeon Dr. Martin Salia dies in Nebraska hospital, days after he was transported from Sierra Leone to the US for treatment. He is the second patient to die in the U.S. from the deadly disease. Liberian national Thomas Eric Duncan, known as patient zero, also died from the deadly disease.
One has to wonder why the two patients to die from the deadly disease in the U.S. are black males. I will say Dr. Salia was in critical condition when he was transported to the U.S. He was reportedly on a ventilator.
Dr. Salia, who contracted the Ebola virus in Africa, was a permanent resident in the U.S. He resided in Maryland with his wife and sons.
Dr. Phil Smith, medical director of the Biocontainment Unit at the Nebraska Medical Center said, “It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share this news.”
Dr. Martin Salia was 44.
