Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s name is being tossed around as a possible presidential candidate. I view him as far more credible than any other Republican candidate, except perhaps for Jeb Bush and Scott Walker. That’s until I heard the name of a prominent Republican that he’s consorting with — John Sununu. Yep, the same person who called Obama lazy and un-American, insulting the black community.
Ed Gillespie, a former Republican National Committee chairman, met recently with Team Kasich, according to GOP sources in Columbus plugged into Kasich’s network.
One Republican said a separate dinner meeting included former U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu of New Hampshire, the first primary state. Richard Allen, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution who served as national security adviser under President Ronald Reagan, also attended the dinner, the source told the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
The sources, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss Kasich’s plans publicly, described the meetings as advice sessions meant to prepare the governor should he launch a White House bid. Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
John Sununu was a Mitt Romney surrogate during the 2012 presidential campaign. Yeah, the same one which resulted in Obama winning by 51% of the popular vote. I am all for John Kasich widening his circle, but it shouldn’t be one that involves John Sununu, who was forced to resign as White House Chief of Staff in 1991 because of his freeloading habits.
