Two shootings at Delaware State University in 5-hour span
Two shootings have occurred at HBCU Delaware State University in a five-hour time span from Saturday night to early Sunday morning, NBC Philadelphia reports.
The first shooting occurred during the annual university-sanction field day cookout. Three people were injured in that shooting. They were taken to an area hospital and are suffering for non-life threatening injuries. Source told NBC Philadelphia that a fight broke out at the cookout, which was attending by over 1,000 students.
Police have described the shooter as 5’9” to 5’11” tall, with short dreadlocks, wearing a tan and blue long-sleeved T-shirt. He was last seen driving a dark colored four-door sedan.
The second shooting occurred at the University Courtyard apartments, NBC reports. DSU spokesman Carlos Holmes said it is unknown if the shootings are related. . The apartments are a block away from campus.
