Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson announces 2016 presidential bid during an interview with WKRC-TV.
Well, Carson is facing several obstacles in his quest for the Republican Party presidential nomination. For starters, he is joining a crowded field with zero political experience. Second, he has to compete for donors and support from more “established and organized candidates” like Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, the NY Times reports.
Further, Carson will struggle to appeal to a wider audience instead of the “grassroots conservatives.” He will also have a hard time convincing black voters to support him, considering the outrageous things he has said about Barack Obama.
Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina and Lindsey Graham all expect to throw their hats in the ring.
