#AssaultAtSpringValleyHigh: CNN’s Don Lemon was dragged on Twitter after saying that people should wait to hear the facts before accusing school resource officer Ben Fields for body-slamming black female student at Spring Valley High School in South Carolina on Monday.

Lemon and Sunny Hostin got into a heated discussion about the Spring Valley High School confrontation during The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

In a clip that Lemon’s CNN Tonight account tweeted (and has since deleted), Lemon said reasonably, “It does look disturbing — the part that is most disturbing to me is seeing her thrown around. As far as the desk going over, I don’t know if the desk fell over because she didn’t want to get up, or if he pushed over, I don’t know, so I think there’s context to everything, I would like to see what happens before and I would like to see what happened afterwards… [But] it does look horrible, it does look like there’s no excuse for what he’s doing for her, [but] we don’t know… It only shows a small slice in time of what happened.”

Hostin was outraged. “Are you guys kidding me?”

“No, we’re not kidding – we don’t know what happened. You weren’t sitting in the room, Sunny…”

“I don’t need to know more!” Hostin insisted.

Fields has been removed from his job pending the outcome of an investigation being conducted the school officials and the Richland County Sheriff’s department.

Whether you agree with Don Lemon or not, it doesn’t rise to the level of hurling racial and homophobic slurs or even calling for his death.
