Zaevion William Dobson, (Zae Dobson) a 15-year-old football player at Fulton High School, was fatally shot during an overnight shooting in Knoxville, Tenn. Police have made arrests in the shooting, but say the investigation is ongoing. One suspect died from a gunshot wound.
Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch said Dobson was killed while he shielded three girls from shooters. “I want to start out by expressing my condolences to the families impacted by the violence last night, especially to the Dobson family for their loss,” Rausch said during a press conference on Friday.
WATC reports that Zaevion William Dobson was killed when Brandon Perry, along with several males, drove in the Lonsdale area and randomly fired shots, Rausch said. Dobson was struck and killed after he “jumped on top of three girls to shield them from the shooters,” said Rausch.
Zaevion Dobson died saving three friends from getting shot. He was a hero at 15. What's our excuse for not acting? https://t.co/hn98uGsjKZ
