NYPD Names Suspects in Violent Gang Rape of 18-Year-Old Girl in Brooklyn Park

The New York police have named the suspects in the violent gang rape of an 18-year-old girl inside the Osborne Park in Brownsville, Brooklyn, last Thursday.

The suspects have been identified as Denzel Murray, 14; Shaquell Cooper and Ethan Phillip, both 15; and 17-year-old Onandi Brown. The fifth suspect, identified as Travis Beckford, is awaiting charges after his arrest.

The girl’s father said one of the attackers threatened him with a gun before all five took turns raping his daughter.

Two of the suspects told police they had consensual sex with the teen after catching her having sexual intercourse with her drunken father in the park.

Four teens were charged as adults on Tuesday. They were arraigned on a single count each of rape and sex abuse and two counts of participating in a criminal sex act.

Police investigators say the attack began at about 9 p.m. after the teen and her 39-year-old father decided to drink a beer together near a playground at the park. She said the teens approached them and ordered her father to leave. He returned and threw a bottle at them. One pulled out a handgun and chased him away, the woman said.

The father finally got help after wandering around for several minutes trying to get some assistance. He did not have a cellphone.
