CNN has identified Omar Saddiqui Mateen as the Pulse nightclub shooting suspect that left 50 dead and 53 injured. He is from Fort Pierce, Fla.
It should be noted that it was Latino night at the club. That means it was diverse — Latinos, blacks, whites, etc.
Rep. Peter King (R-NY) says he is from Afghanistan and had weapons training.
Omar Saddiqui Mateen, who is a U.S. citizen, apparently had no criminal history, CBS News reports.
The situation at Pulse nightclub started as a standoff situation before Mateen opened fire on the patrons inside the club. He reportedly used an assault rifle in the shooting.
According to media reports, Mateen had anti-gay views. He reportedly called 911 just before the Pulse nightclub shooting and swore allegiance to ISIS.
