An off-duty NYPD officer Officer Wayne Isaacs fatally shot Delrawn Small, who punched him twice, in a road rage incident in Brooklyn early Monday, police say.
The NY Daily News reports, Small was captured on video exiting his car and approaching the officer’s car when they came to a red light. He “punched the cop twice, once in the face and once in the mouth,” the newspaper reports.
The cop, a three-year NYPD veteran heading home from a 4 p.m.-12 a.m. shift at the 79th Precinct, pulled his service weapon and fired three shots at Small.
Eyewitness Lloyd Banks said, “He just shot (Small) right there on the street. Delrawn was unarmed. His wife and kids were still in the car. They saw everything.”
Small’s girlfriend, Zaquanna Albert wrote in a Facebook post, “Words can’t begin to explain. The pain I feel right now. I appreciate all the prayers and well wishes. But my heart aches for this Man and my son who will never remember his Dad and a Great dad he was to my Baby.”
The New York state attorney general has launched an investigation into Delrawn Small’s shooting death. Officer Wayne Isaacs, is a three-year veteran of the NYPD. He was on his way home from work at the 79th Precinct.
