The Charlotte Police Department has released body camera footage in the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott.
CMPD Chief Kerr Putney said that the video did not give “definitive visual evidence” that Scott was holding a gun or that he pointed it at any of the officers at the scene. He said there was other unspecified evidence that Scott “absolutely was in possession of a handgun.”

So, let me get this straight….North Carolina is an open carry state, so the police initiated contact leading to Scott’s shooting death over marijuana? Really? The most that should have happened to Scott was being given a ticket for a maximum of $200, since North Carolina has decriminalized small amounts of marijuana possession.
