As expected, Donald Trump responded to Meryl Streep’s brutal takedown of him at the Golden Globes awards Sunday during her acceptance speech: “Disrespect invites disrespect.”

Donald Trump Calls Meryl Streep “Hillary Flunky” After She Blasted Him at Golden Globes

Of course, Trump couldn’t help himself. He had to wallow in the muck by calling Ms. Streep “overrated.” Um, I guess she hit a nerve. He did mock disabled reporter Serge Kovaleski during a campaign event last year.

Um, he better get ready for the Oscar and Grammy awards shows. He is going to light his hair on fire.

I applaud Ms. Streep for that acceptance speech on common decency. She made the remarks during her acceptance of a lifetime achievement award last night.

Streep went straight after Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda: “Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners, and if you kick us all out, you’ll have nothing to watch except for football and mixed martial arts, which are not arts.”

She also said, “It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter, someone he outranked in privilege, power, and the capacity to fight back.”

By the way, her top 17 movie box office receipts prove she isn’t over-rated like the ignoramus about to assume the presidency:

Further, Streep’s Wikipedia page shows the depth of her body of work and it’s far from someone who is over-rated. She is a ratings machine.

Streep has also received 30 Golden Globe nominations, winning eight—more nominations, and more competitive (non-honorary) wins than any other actor (male or female).[5] Her work has also earned her two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Cannes Film Festival award, five New York Film Critics Circle Awards, two BAFTA awards, two Australian Film Institute awards, five Grammy Award nominations, and five Drama Desk Award nominations, among several others. She was awarded the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2004, the Gala Tribute from the Film Society of Lincoln Center in 2008, and the Kennedy Center Honor in 2011 for her contribution to American culture through performing arts. President Barack Obama awarded her the 2010 National Medal of Arts and in 2014 the Presidential Medal of Freedom.[6][7] In 2003, the government of France made her a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters.[8] On November 3, 2016, Streep was selected as the recipient of the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 74th Golden Globe Awards.
