Twitter mercilessly mocked Trumpcare vs. Obamacare and I have to say it was glorious. The Republicans finally released a healthcare plan to replace the Affordable Care Act, but they won’t allow the Congressional Budget Office to score the law.
In other words, they want lawmakers to blindly vote for something that have no idea of how much it will cost. Additionally, there will be massive cuts to Medicaid, which means low-income people will not be covered. Planned Parenthood will be defunded under the new GOP plan (which is DOA in the Senate), which will leave nearly three million women unable to get mammograms or birth control.
But, true to GOP tenets, the rich will fare fabulously under the GOP plan. Insurance companies will get a substantial tax break, which can be used for CEO bonuses. You will run into trouble if you have a pre-existing condition and you stop paying for healthcare. Um, that means you will no longer be covered.
The comparisons between Obamacare vs. Trumpcare are meant to prove that the ACA, may not have been perfect, but it helped millions of people directly and indirectly through health insurance offered by companies to their employees.
Stay woke! Call your lawmaker and tell them you do not want Trumpcare. Please, stay engaged in the process and get out to vote in large numbers during the 2018 midterm elections. The Republicans don’t care about the needs of the poor, working class and elderly. Rep. Jason Chaffetz says the poor should choose between an iPhone and health care.
