The Trump administration’s pro-whiteness continues with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin refusing to commit to following through on putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.
Mnuchin told CNBC he would not commit to his predecessor’s pledge to replace President Andrew Jackson on the twenty-dollar bill with Harriet Tubman.
Mnuchin: “People have been on the bills for a long period of time. This is something we’ll consider; right now we have a lot more important issues to focus on.”
Um, so if Harriet Tubman was much lighter, possibly white, wearing expensive clothes, and not risking her life to help slaves to freedom, Mnuchin’s response may have been vastly different, right? The Trump administration’s pro-whiteness is sickening.
