#IBelieveFrederica: Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) blasts John Kelly’s “empty barrel” remark as racist, though she did not explain why. Personally, I think was a very sexist thing to say, considering he said women were “sacred” in an earlier remark during the press briefing yesterday when he disgraced himself by mopping up Donald Trump’s mess. Kelly also said bemoaned how women were treated in the 1950s and today. Well, women had no rights in the 1950s and were expected to be seen and not heard. We aren’t going back to those days.
Wilson denied she ever made the remarks about the FBI field office funding because she was “not even in Congress in 2009 when the money for the building was secured,” she told Alisyn Camerota on CNN’s New Day on Friday morning. “I heard him say that I bragged that I secured the money for the FBI building in Miramar, and that’s a lie,” Wilson said. You know, I feel sorry for Gen. Kelly. He has my sympathy for the loss of his son, but he can’t just go on TV and lie on me,” she continued.
“I was not even in Congress in 2009 when the money for the building was secured, so that’s a lie. However, I named the building at the behest of Director Comey with the help of Speaker Boehner, working across party lines, so he didn’t tell the truth, and he needs to stop telling lies on me.”
Instead of Donald Trump doing the decent and honorable thing by picking up the phone and calling Sgt. La David Johnson’s wife to apologize if she and the family felt disrespected over his comments, he’s taking the low road by attacking yet another black woman to prove the point that once again he lied and his behavior is disgraceful. Had Rep. Wilson not told the public about Trump’s callousness and lack of empathy towards Mrs. Johnson and her family, we would have never known that he attacked yet another Gold Star family.
Further, where are the answers for why it took him 12 days to issue a statement about the Niger attack that claimed the lives of Sgt. Johnson and three other soldiers? Why did not decide against reading a statement that was prepared with regard to the terrorist attack?
John Kelly thinks by going on a clean-up mission for Donald Trump he put the matter to rest? No. The controversy is deepening and getting uglier by the day. Rep. Wilson isn’t going to slink away into a corner to lick her wounds. She’s hitting back and calling Trump and Kelly liars, on national TV.
