NY Terror Attack: Trump Blames Chuck Schumer for Immigration Policy Signed Into Law by Republican President

Twitter shreds Donald Trump for shamefully blaming Sen. Chuck Schumer for the New York City terrorist attack. Trump’s disgusting tweet comes 24 hours after eight people were killed, 11 injured after Uzbek national Sayfullo Saipov. The great divider-in-chief is doing what he does best. Sow seeds of division.

Trump tweeted:  “The terrorist came into our country through what is called the “Diversity Visa Lottery Program,” a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based.”

Schumer played a role the program that was part of a bigger bipartisan immigration package signed into law by a Republican President George H. W. Bush on Nov. 29, 1990. It also survived post-9/11 under President George W. Bush. The Democrats tried to make changes to the legislation when they got a majority in Congress. I know Trump was secretly wishing this happened under former President Barack Obama’s watch.

Trump followed that up with a second tweet based on talking points from Fox News: “We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter).

Of course, he got his talking points from Fox News since he seems to be unable to read the security briefings he is privy to as the president.

Schumer clapped back: “I guess it’s not too soon to politicize a tragedy.” He also said, “President Trump, instead of politicizing and dividing America, which he always seems to do at times of national tragedy, should be focusing on the real solution — anti-terrorism funding — which he proposed cutting in his most recent budget.”

You will recall when Stephen Paddock shot hundreds in Las Vegas using bump stocks on his assault rifles, we didn’t get this outrage from Donald Trump. Why? Paddock was a white male, so let’s just tip-toe around what he did. Nothing to see here. Trump even sent “warmest condolences” to the victims of the worst mass shooting in American history. Republicans said “this was not the time” to talk about gun control measures. But a foreigner, who entered the U.S. legally, armed with a paintball gun, warrants an immediate reaction from Trump to divide Americans, not united.
