Rob Porter Wanted His Ex-Wife Jennie Willoughby to Downplay His Abuse During Their Marriage

Accused wife beater Rob Porter wanted his ex-wife Jennie Willoughby to down play his domestic abuse to save his White House career as the news was about to break.

Willoughby’s interview on CNN’s AC 360 was powerful. It’s shameful that Porter is still pushing back against negative publicity he’s getting before of his violence. He also asked her to take down her 2014 blog post about her experiences. He wanted her to feel guilty for what he did.

Willoughby said she is worried for his current girlfriend, White House communications director Hope Hicks, because she does not believe that he has changed. She said, “If he hasn’t already been abusive with Hope, he will.” He’s “a troubled man and needs help,” she added.

Porter resigned on Wednesday after The Intercept posted photos of his first wife, Colbie Holderness, with a black eye and bruises on her face. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is under fire for defending Porter as a man of “true integrity.”
