Twitter bursts out laughing after Donald Trump claims the Obama FBI informant who was embedded in his campaign is “bigger than Watergate:” “You do realize FBI informants are legal, right?”
Trump tweeted: “Wow, word seems to be coming out that the Obama FBI “SPIED ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN WITH AN EMBEDDED INFORMANT,” Andrew McCarthy says. “There’s probably no doubt that they had at least one confidential informant in the campaign.” If so, this is bigger than Watergate!”

Let’s unpack this nonsense Trump vomited out on Twitter. It is perfectly legal for the FBI and law enforcement in general, to have informants. The fact that the FBI had an informant in the Trump campaign means that they suspected some shady, possibly criminal, behavior. Like former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg said during the Democratic National Convention, Donald Trump is a con man. In other words, the FBI suspected some con game going on.
By the way, this is Trump’s second tweet about the Obama FBI informant. The very stable genius initially misspelled “embedded” as “imbedded,” which he corrected after 51 minutes.

The lies are finally catching up with Donald Trump. He falsely accused former President Obama of wiretapping his phones in Trump Tower and trotted out his puppet Devin Nunes to run interference for him to come up with some excuse why he told such a vicious lie on Obama. That blew up in his face.
Reaction on Twitter:
TRANSLATION: After Papadopolis bragged about how Russia was colluding and helping my campaign they quickly began an investigation and turned him against me much earlier than anyone knew! https://t.co/hBwKB0ihr4

Oh, honey, this IS bigger than Watergate. Because you can't "inform" on someone who isn't committing crimes. https://t.co/QG0ezp0Ez1

Somebody tell this fucking moron #DonaldTrump that it is NOT illegal to use informants to provide them with info on the subject of an investigation! Trump's own scandal is the one BIGGER THAN WATERGATE! Sad! #POTUS @realDonaldTrump #FoxNews #FoxAndFriends https://t.co/8hDgTde1BC

The courts have recognized that the government’s use of informants is lawful and often essential to the effectiveness of properly authorized law enforcement investigations.
