A federal court rules Donald Trump blocking critics on Twitter is unconstitutional and a violation of the First Amendment.
U.S. District Court Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald slammed Trump and Dan Scavino in a lengthy ruling, saying that no government official, including the president is above the law.
“This case requires us to consider whether a public official may, consistent with the First Amendment, “block” a person from his Twitter account in response to the political views that person has expressed, and whether the analysis differs because that public official is the President of the United States. The answer to both questions is no.”
The case was filed by Knight First Amendment Institute on behalf of Rebecca Buckwalter, Philip Cohen, Holly Figueroa, Eugene Gu, Brandon Neely, Joseph Papp and Nicholas Pappas, who were all blocked from Trump’s @realdonaldtrump Twitter account.
