MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough claps back after Trump DHS officials (who refused to go on the record) demanded an apology for the Nazi comparison over the separation of immigrant children from their parents at the border.
From April 19 to May 31, the children were separated from 1,940 adults, according to a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security, who spoke during a conference call with reporters that had been described as an effort to correct the record about immigrant families being split up at the border.
At one point, the official complained that Joe Scarborough of MSNBC had been disrespectful for having said during a broadcast that the tactics being employed to separate children from their parents unwittingly were “just like the Nazis,” calling the comparison “disgusting.” Without naming Mr. Scarborough, he demanded an apology. Well, Scarborough isn’t apologizing, but clapping back even harder from his Twitter feed on Saturday. He tweeted: “I am sorry that the Trump Administration has created a vicious policy where parents are told their children are being taken to showers and never return. Such inhumanity is un-American. You can quote me on that.”

He followed that up with a series of scathing tweets.
“I am sorry Donald Trump has compared our FBI and Intel Community heroes to Nazis. I am sorry he has gone to war with patriots at the Justice Dept. I am sorry Trump has no respect for judicial independence, the rule of law or the free press. Quote me.”
“I am sorry Donald Trump attacks our NATO allies who helped liberate the beaches of Normandy, yet embraces Putin and wishes “his people” would bow to him like Kim Jong Un’s terrorized subjects. Trump’s lust for ultimate power is a sickness. You can quote me on that one, too.”
“I feel pity for Trump stooges who lack the character to oppose his heartless policy that rips babies from their mothers’ arms and sends children to showers and then disappear.”
“Who will hire these Trump stooges after they leave his foul presence and finish their role in promoting policies that rip babies from mothers’ arms? Who in Washington would ever hire them again?”
Trump has been lying that the Democrats were the ones behind the law to separate the children. There is no law. The Democrats do not control the Congress. The Republicans do. They and Trump could end this but they have zero empathy and could care less because the immigrants are black and brown. You will recall he called Central America, Africa and Haiti “shithole countries.” The crisis is of the Trump administration’s making, thanks to a policy signed off on by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to use prosecution and family separation as a deterrent.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Monday (May 7) that the Justice Department will begin prosecuting every person who illegally crosses into the United States along the Southwest border, a hard-line policy shift focusing in particular on migrants traveling with children.
In separate speeches — one in Scottsdale, Ariz., the other in San Diego — Sessions said the Department of Homeland Security will begin referring such cases to the Justice Department for prosecution. Federal prosecutors will “take on as many of those cases as humanly possible until we get to 100 percent,” he said.
“If you cross the border unlawfully . . . then we will prosecute you,” Sessions said. “If you smuggle an illegal alien across the border, then we’ll prosecute you. . . . If you’re smuggling a child, then we’re going to prosecute you, and that child will be separated from you, probably, as required by law. If you don’t want your child separated, then don’t bring them across the border illegally. It’s not our fault that somebody does that.” Source: Washington Post
Trump wants to use this as a bargaining chip for the border wall that he said Mexico would pay for. Joe Scarborough is right. The actions of the Trump administration are a throwback to Adolf Hitler’s concentration camps.
