Twitter mocksย Donald Trumpย after attacks the European Union because Google (Alphabet Inc.) was hit with a $5 billion antitrust fine. Um, he doesn’t read with comprehension — antitrust laws vs. NATO = two different things.

Trump tweeted: “I told you so! The European Union just slapped a Five Billion Dollar fine on one of our great companies, Google. They truly have taken advantage of the U.S., but not for long!”

Google was accused of illegally using its Android mobile operating system to squeeze out other online services.

Margrethe Vestager, the European Commission’s competition chief, said on Wednesday, that Google suppressed competition because of its arrangements with phone manufacturers.ย  “In this way, Google has used Android as a vehicle to cement the dominance of its search engine,” Vestager said.

“These practices have denied rivals the chance to innovate and compete on the merits. They have denied European consumers the benefits of effective competition in the important mobile sphere. This is illegal under EU antitrust rules,” Vestager continued.

The fine is the result of a three-year investigation and has nothing to do with anything Donald Trump is spouting off. He is now threatening to pull out of NATO and impose stiff tariffs on auto imports. But, of course, facts never get in the way of Trump’s tsunami of lies.
