Omarosa Manigault releases a secret recording of White House chief of staff John Kelly firing her in the Situation Room during her appearance on NBC News’ Meet the Press ahead of her book release.

Manigault accused Kelly of locking her in the Situation Room and making threats to damage her reputation, which she called “downright criminal behavior.” She said she recorded the conversation with Kelly because “This is a White House where everybody lies… you have to have your back.”

He is heard telling Newman: “Let’s not go down the road. This is a non-negotiable discussion.”

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti posed a great question on Twitter, asking why John Kelly felt he needed to fire Omarosa by meeting with her in the Situation Room, which is a classified area (SCIF). Was it because “something was said you didn’t want recorded?”

Mariotti urged Omarosa to get a lawyer, but I suspect she may already have one in place. It sounds to me like she could file a lawsuit against the administration at some point, since she felt the need to make so many recordings.

Former Obama administration staffer Ned Price also sounded the alarm on Kelly meeting with Omarosa in the Situation Room. “Set aside that Omarosa recorded a conversation in the Sit Room. Why was she there in the first place? Why did John Kelly, who has a large, private office, feel that was the best place to fire her? This is bigger than Omarosa. It’s a culture of disregard for our natl security,” Price tweeted.

Veteran journalist April Ryan remarked to CNN’s Brian Stelter, “are any national security protocols followed in this administration?” “This is a national security issue,” she added in reference to Kelly firing Newman from the Situation Room.

Omarosa also said Donald Trump told her to find articles about Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski; put paper in his mouth after meeting with Michael Cohen; tried to buy her off with $15,000 a month hush money payment; lies all the time and dared them to release her human resource file. She said that the White House is “deceiving this nation” because Trump is “mentally declined” and has difficulty processing “complex information.”
