Twitter rips Rand Paul over his sell-out trip to Moscow to meet with Russian lawmakers: “Enjoy your visit to your homeland, Comrade Paul.” Judging from the reaction on social media, Paul’s trip to Russia just backfired big time.

Paul tweeted:  “Engagement is vital to our national security and peace around the world. Today, I met with Chairman Kosachev, and we agreed on the importance of continued dialogue.”

“Paul has praised Trump’s meeting with Putin, and has also downplayed Moscow’s interference in U.S. elections, claiming that all countries meddle in foreign elections,” Politico reports.

Meanwhile, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has indicted more than 10 Russians and Russian entities in connection with interference in the 2016 presidential election. Further, Maria Butina, a Kremlin-linked operative, is sitting behind bars on a host of charges after she was to infiltrate the Republican Party.

Paul also met with Sergey Kislyak while in Moscow. You will recall Kislyak met with members of the Trump campaign. Trump also leaked classified information to Kislyak and Sergey Lavrov during their visit to the White House.

Well, Twitter wasn’t taking too kindly to Paul’s trip or his tweet:
