Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton floated a possible 2020 bid during an interview with Recode’s Kara Swisher, saying, “I’d like to be president.”
Clinton initially said “no” when Swisher asked about a possible 2020 bid. Then she paused and said “no” a second time. Swisher noted that she didn’t “sound so sure” and Clinton responded, “well, I’d like to be president.” “I think, hopefully, when we have a Democrat in the Oval Office in January of 2021, there’s going to be so much work to be done.”
“Well, I’d like to be president. I think, hopefully, when we have a Democrat in the Oval Office in January of 2021, there’s going to be so much work to be done,” the Washington Post reports.
Clinton’s comments come after former aide Philipe Reines floated the idea, saying that “it’s somewhere between highly unlikely and zero, but it’s not zero” that she would run in 2020, The Hill reports.
My two cents: The news Hillary Clinton floats 2020 presidential bid isn’t sitting well with me. I was a big supporter of hers in the 2016 presidential race and I still believe she would have been a great president, but that shipped has sailed. It’s time to move on from her, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.
I’m a no on Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker. I don’t think either one would win. I hope it doesn’t come down to Clinton again but if it does, she would have a lot of material to use against Trump.
