Ian David Long, 28, has been identified as the Thousand Oaks mass shooter, who killed 12 at the the Borderline Bar and Grill, which is frequented by college students in the area. He was later found dead at the scene.

Ventura County Sherrif’s Sgt. Ron Helus was killed as he responded to scene. He was a 29-year vet nearing retirement. He leaves behind a wife and children.

Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said Long, a former Marine, used a Glock 21 handgun to kill 12 people at the bar. Dean says the gun, which holds 10 rounds plus one in the chamber, may have had an extended magazine, which is illegal in California.

Long, of Newbury Park, “threw smoke bombs and rained bullets on a crowd of more than a hundred people Wednesday night,” the Los Angeles Times reports. Dean says his office has had interactions with Long.

I guess Ian David Long is not a member of the migrant caravan that Donald Trump claimed was invading our country. This is yet another case of domestic terrorism carried out by a white male.

This latest shooting comes two weeks after the largest mass shooting in U.S. history at a Jewish synagogue occurred in Squirrel Hills, Penn, when anti-Semite Robert Bowers killed 11 at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
