Georgia state Senator Nikema Williams was arrested during a rally at the state capitol demanding that every vote be counted. Several other protesters were arrested.

Williams, who represents District 39, said she stood peacefully by her constituents because they wanted their voices heard and then she was arrested.

Williams said she was arrested because she did not disperse, but added that she was on the senate floor for a special session.

WSBTV’s Richard Elliot reports that “the Department of Public Safety confirms 15 arrests at the State Capitol including State Sen. Nikema Williams.” “They were taken to the Fulton County Jail and charged essentially with Disorderly Conduct.”
