Federal prosecutors with the Southern District of New York dropped a bombshell in Michael Cohen sentencing documents saying that Donald Trump committed a crime.
The crime is in connection with the hush money payments made on his behalf to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.
More from Michael Cohen sentencing documents: “During the campaign, Cohen played a central role in two similar schemes to purchase the rights to stories – each from women who claimed to have had an affair with Individual-1 – so as to suppress the stories and thereby prevent them from influencing the election.”
“With respect to both payments, Cohen acted with the intent to influence the 2016 presidential election. Cohen coordinated his actions with one or more members of the campaign, including through meetings and phone calls, about the fact, nature, and timing of the payments. In particular, and as Cohen himself has now admitted, with respect to both payments, he acted in coordination with and at the direction of Individual-1.”
Michael Cohen’s cooperation with the SDNY spells more trouble for Donald Trump then Robert Mueller’s filing in terms of the financial aspects. But the Mueller filing does note interactions between the Trump campaign and Russia. Cohen disclosed “discrete” information about the campaign’s contacts with Russia. COLLUSION.
BREAKING: Special counsel Mueller says in new filing that Russia reached out to Trump campaign as far back as 2015.
