Donald Trump crosses his arms and scowls as former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney talks about George H.W. Bush’s character and commitment to principled leadership.
Mulroney said, “No occupant of the Oval Office was more courageous, more principled, more honorable than George Herbert Walker Bush.”
“There are wooden ships, there are sailing ships, there are ships that sail the sea. But the best ships are friendships, and may they always be,” Mulroney said.
“When George Bush was President of the United States of America, every single head of government in the world knew they were dealing with a gentleman, a genuine leader, one was that was established, resolute and brave.”
Mulroney also took a jab at Trump over NAFTA, “the largest free-trade area in the history of the world.” Trump has been the biggest enemy of free trade.
Reaction on Twitter:
Former Canadian PM Brian Mulroney, a friend of Bush, has begun his eulogy. He says that in the history of the world's greatest democratic republic, no president has been “more courageous, more principled and more honourable than George Herbert Walker Bush.”
