Rising party star Stacey Abrams is set to give the Democrats response to Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on February 5. Abrams narrowly lost her bid to be Georgia’s governor last year.
Many Georgians want Abrams to run against Trump flunkie David Perdue in the 2020 elections. She could very well pull out a major upset since she lost the governor’s race by a narrow margin.
Women have led the charge to recapture our democracy as a result of Trump’s presidency. A record number of Democratic women are running for president, including Sens. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
Harris, who is a huge favorite, is terrifying Republicans and Trump because her campaign roll-out was phenomenal. During her speech at her rally to launch her campaign, Sen. Harris slammed Trump, saying, “foreign powers are infecting the White House like malware.” Her campaign slogan is “For the People.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer confirmed that Abrams had accepted his invitation to deliver the Democratic response to Trump’s SOTU.
