Presidential candidate Julian Castro hammers Bernie Sanders for his willingness to write big checks for free college tuition and Medicare for all, but not for reparations to descendants of slaves.
“If the issue is compensating the descendants of slaves I don’t think that the argument about writing a big check ought to be the argument that you make if you’re making an argument that a big check needs to be written for…other stuff,” Castro said.
“If under the constitution you compensate people because you take their property, why wouldn’t you compensate people who were actually property?” he asked.

He is the first presidential candidate to slam Bernie Sanders directly and his sidekick Nina Turner is spouting lies in her pitiful clap-back. Hillary Clinton didn’t go after Bernie during the 2016 presidential campaign, but 2020 is different and he’s not going to slide under his scant legislative record and his failure to release his tax returns.
During an recent interview on The Breakfast Club, Sanders couldn’t say one thing he did to further civil rights since the 1960s. He told co-host Charlamagne Tha God that he endorsed Jesse Jackson’s presidential bid in 1988. What he conveniently left out was the fact that Jackson backed his mayoral race a few years earlier.
