Sen. Mazie Hirono shames Attorney General Bill Barr over his “spying” remark on Capitol Hill yesterday: “He opens his mouth and Trump’s words come popping out.”
Hirono was referencing Barr’s bombshell comments during a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, when he threw out that he believes the was spying on the Trump campaign. He tried to walk it back when the senators started pressing him on his utterance of Trump’s talking points.
During an appearance on CNN’s New Day, Hirono said the remarks show “when Barr opens his mouth, Trump’s words come popping out.”
“I’m sure that made Trump very happy because it totally played into the Trump narrative that this is all some kind of a plot to get him.”
“I found it astounding that the attorney general would use a highly-charged word like ‘spying.’ But he sounded like the president to me,” she added.
