Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms slams Donald Trump over the ICE raids, saying, “the president of the United States should be ashamed of himself.”
Mayor Lance-Bottoms told MSNBC’s David Gura, “My eight year old son looked to me and asked me was he was born in America.” “When I reassured him, he looked at his brother and asked if he was born here because he’s concerned and he’s anxious that our family will be separated,” she continued.
“This is impacting everyone’s children in our communities and I think the president of the United States should be ashamed of himself.”

Mayor Lance-Bottoms said she has not received any type of formal update from the Trump administration, only a notification on Twitter. “There’s been no coordination” and “our public safety officers can be put in harm’s way” as a result of the lack of notification.
“Donald Trump has no problems using our families and our children as political pawns. No matter what your party affiliation is or what your hopes are for the 2020 election, you should be concerned because it is impacting our communities,” Lance-Bottoms continued.
“I just ask that people remember these are human beings. This isn’t about politics. This is about parents. This is about children. When I explain to my children and see the anxiety they have, I remind them that we will be okay and he will not be president for long,” Lance-Bottoms concludes.
