Eric Sparkes, the man at the center of the altercation with Georgia state lawmaker Erica Thomas, at a Publix supermarket, denies he told her to “go back where you came from.”
WSB-TV interviewed Sparkes and he admits he called Thomas a “bitch” and says he’s not racist and is Cuban, not white. Thomas says he is lying about the incident.
Here’s more of Eric Sparkes side. @itsericathomas says he’s lying. She says a manager at Publix told her there is surveillance video, but that it doesn’t have audio. @itsericathomas is pregnant and due in less than 3 weeks. She was w/her 9-year-old when the altercation happened pic.twitter.com/t30w6hZYNN

Here is Erica Thomas’s version of what happened:
We have a serious problem in this Country when @itsericathomas is subjected to racism in a Cobb County @Publix in front of her daughter. #gapol. #IStandwithErica thank you @RenittaShannon for alerting me and the @NAACPGA. #NoPlaceforHate. pic.twitter.com/hN5HDS4aG9

She clapped back at Sparkes:
So Eric Sparkes admits to approaching me and verbally assulting me in front of my 9 year and but not the rest of his statements. You sounds like a coward to me and that’s fine you will think twice before you berate any one again! You keep lying we have witnesses that will testify! pic.twitter.com/HRWTBZ89SC

Thomas now claims that Sparkes may not have explicitly said “go back to your country” or go back where you came from.” That’s a problem for her credibility because she clearly stated in the video that he used those words.
.@itsericathomas in her own words. I now feel comfortable calling this a #HateHoax. The past 24 hours is a good case study into how the MSM machine & social media work together to amplify unconfirmed & outlandish narratives of American racism. pic.twitter.com/TDEKpec7Cw

Twitter isn’t buying Eric Sparks side of the story:
It absolutely matters she’s 9-months pregnant. He should be offering to carry her bags for her! And to create such a scene from one of the most minor infractions in the world…what a freekin’ jerk! I suppose he never goes 1-mph over speed limit then since that’s the rule too…🙄

What I don’t get Mr. Sparkes sir, if you were in such a hurry that someone in the express lane with a few more items sparked such indignation and outrage why would you spend all that extra time berating her? Why would hang around and talk to a manager?
I’d like an answer.

Imagine how empty your life must be to care if someone has too many items in the express lane at the grocery store …
Christ says you should let people go ahead of you anyway …
You’ll feel better in general

He bought his stuff in a timely manner, had the gall to approach customer service to complain about another customer, left the building THEN had the audacity to go back inside to confront a pregnant woman in front of her child! Who told this man he was special?
