Russia, if you’re listening 2.0, as Donald Trump asks China to investigate Joe Biden and his son while he is facing impeachment for the same thing.
“China should start an investigation into the Bidens, because what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine,” Trump told reporters on Thursday.
He also admitted that he pushed the Ukrainian president to dig up dirt on Joe and Hunter Biden.
Washington Post: “Asked whether he had requested Chinese President Xi Jinping to help investigate the Bidens, Trump replied: “I haven’t, but it’s certainly something we should start thinking about.”

The Biden campaign hit back hard:
“As Joe Biden forcefully said last night, the defining characteristic of Donald Trump’s presidency is the ongoing abuse of power. What Donald Trump just said on the South Lawn of the White House was this election’s equivalent of his infamous ‘Russia, if you’re listening’ moment from 2016 — a grotesque choice of lies over truth and self over the country. The White House itself has admitted that Donald Trump tried to bully a foreign country into lying about the domestic opponent he’s afraid to look in the eye next November. Now, with his administration in free-fall, Donald Trump is flailing and melting down on national television, desperately clutching for conspiracy theories that have been debunked and dismissed by independent, credible news organizations. It could not be more transparent: Donald Trump is terrified that Joe Biden will beat him like a drum.”
The reaction on Twitter after Trump asks China to investigate Joe Biden is epic:
This is a first in American history dating to 1789. An American President has asked our strongest adversary, a communist dictatorship, to investigate his major opponent. Let that sink in. It is corruption—morally and legally wrong. https://t.co/RJMADadGnI

To my Republican colleagues, I implore you to listen to the words that came out of Trumps’ mouth this morning. From the SOUTH LAWN OF THE WHITE HOUSE. Think about the detrimental impact these actions will have on our democracy and our national security. This is indefensible. https://t.co/i87ULjqzhf

We cannot normalize the President of the United States wielding his power to solicit foreign interference in our elections.
President Trump saying this publicly is damning—not exonerating. https://t.co/XaImB7dl51

1/ Trump just committed a felony violation of law by soliciting something of value in connection with a US election from a foreign gov’t on national TV. 52 U.S. Code § 30121. Violating the law isn’t necessary for Impeachment but it certainly warrants it. https://t.co/MqvdkAniTR

Republicans doing all this work to falsely accuse Schiff of fabricating conduct the president has admitted to, only for the president to commit the impeachable offense again on camera.

"Russia, if you're listening, if you're not going to help me out, I'm going to China and Ukraine. And Australia. And the UK. And Italy."

Any member of the House or Senate GOP have a problem with this? You should, or you should try a different line of work where you don't take an oath to defend the Constitution.. https://t.co/zi0CnGiY8j

Trump, facing an impeachment inquiry over privately encouraging Ukraine to investigate the Bidens and his lawyer's dealings in the country, says on the South Lawn that both Ukraine and China should investigate the Bidens.

The President of the United States has just Impeached himself. He publicly admitted to violating the Constitution & his Oath of Office. There is no rationale for any member of Congress not to Impeach & remove this lying Cancer on our Democracy.

I’ve lived in China & covered it for decades. It is an authoritarian country with no credible rule of law which imprisons & kills political opponents. For a US president to call on such a country to investigate an American is incredible. Will Republicans who know this object?
— Jim Sciutto (@jimsciutto) October 3, 2019
So after days of Republicans, and Trump himself, repeatedly denying that Trump asked the Ukrainian president to investigate Biden, Trump just, on the White House lawn, in front of TV cameras, called on the Ukrainian president — and China! — to investigate Biden.

Not just foreign leaders, but the leader of a country (China) who considers us, at best, a frenemy, and has nuclear weapons pointed at us. But Republicans will totally support this because they're the party of national security and defense, of course. https://t.co/UE6FZ99NWz
